The International 50 and Over Baseball Association was formed in 1994 by Max Weber. League play began with four teams.
The purpose of the league is to support and promote the game of baseball. It is a good recreational program for adults over 50 years of age and helps participants stay active, healthy and alert.
Currently there are 14 teams with an average roster of 21.1 players/managers per team. The league also participates in the Men's Senior Baseball League (MSBL) World Series in Phoenix, Arizona. A "World Series" team is fielded from players of the 14 participating teams and that team competes in the MSBL games in Phoenix, Arizona.
Some of the current players are 70 to 80 years old and some were baseball stars in their times. Others have written a history of baseball in El Paso and many of the kids these gentlemen once coached have become major league players. Several players have been inducted in the El Paso and Juarez Baseball Hall of Fame. El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame members currently playing in the league are: Don Wilson and Juan Sandoval. The Hall of Fame has honored Max Weber, Kris Ludwig, Chuy Munoz, and Raul Solis as the Senior League Baseball players of the year.
The league will always welcome volunteers, contributions, fund raising events and assistance in securing funds and baseball fields which are very limited here in the city and county of El Paso.
